AGR 0.5.4.0 Animations Update

In a nutshell:

This update definitely took more time than I thought, but it’s finally done and you can now blow up even more stuff. Since the combat spells now are cheaper to cast, are animated and they definitely leave a mark. The HP bar was added, so you can now see that you’re actually making a dent. However since every character has a lot of body parts it might seem like they can tank a lot of hits just to be insta killed by a  vital hit. Oh and the marauder mages got new textures.

A Closer look:

This time I've brought a shield...

New features:

- Spells now have animated projectiles.
- Ranged weapons now have animated projectiles.
- AOE spells now have explosion animations.
- Spells now leave acid splatter, scorch marks, etc
- Ranged npcs will now close in up to weapon’s/spell’s max range
- Added new textures for marauder mages

Game balance:

- Lowered initial food and water cost for several mental and self spells.
- Lowered initial fatigue spell cost for all of the spells.
- Animals now have built in armor.
- Several smaller updates.

Bug hunter log:

- Fixed biomass armor recipes not using biomancy skill.
- Fixed crash when attacking with non-weapon type items.
- Fixed issue when npcs will shoot/cast spells beyond maximum range.
- Fixed several typos.

What’s next?

There’s quite a few things that I want to tackle in the next update.
First thing first, biomines could use some animations, while walls, trees and other objects should spawn debris when damaged.
The night and day system should definitely be updated, since now the campfire, forges, etc do not give any light and last a lifetime.
I also plan to add several smaller survival, combat & trade updates, like food rotting and alter how thirst and hunger levels affect effectiveness modifier. Sneak attacks also could use some love, because now they don’t grant any bonuses. While traders should at least change their prices from time to time.

That’s all I’ve got for this release, so see you in a month and half :).
